Stationery Movies

| | Comments (0)
I can't say I spend too much of my time muckin' around with Flash games (of course, everything is relative), but this one's pretty good: Viking's Stationery Movies. Basically, it's a collection of movie scenes or riddles made with 3M products, i.e. Post-It Notes, Scotch Tape, etc. plus various other items found around an office -- staple removers, staplers, paper clips, scissors, markers and rulers. Some are quite funny. With help, I finally got all of them.

I am constantly blown away by the wonderful compositions and artistry folks display on a daily basis through Flickr. Maybe my favorite part is that everyone who posts seems to do so just because they want to share. And it's really fun to look around. Hopefully this link will stay dynamic as I add to my "Favorites".

Man, this made my day. nonmyopicdave posted a piece of his "alienpop" on MetaFilter's music section titled, "Rocketships". Please, just have a listen. You'll see what I mean. nmdave explains he used Band-In-A-Box to meld cheesy, midi beeps and melodies with two harmonizing, and you'll recognize standard, Apple text-to-speech voices to sing a poem from Leonard Nimoy's book, Warmed by Love (here it is on Amazon). The lyrics to "Rocketships":
Rocket ships Are exciting But so are roses On a birthday Computers are exciting But so is a sunset And logic Will never replace Love Sometimes I wonder Where I belong In the future Or In the past Rocket ships Are exciting But so are roses On a birthday Computers are exciting But so is a sunset And logic Will never replace Love I guess I'm just An old-fashioned Spaceman
nmdave has another hit, "Interplanetary Lover" (lyrics moderately NSFW, but really just silly). Two wonderful compositions, giggly and boppy, but it almost makes me look to the sky for my old-fashioned Spaceman [I absolutely adored this film as a kid]. . .
