Flight of the Conchords

A bit over a year ago my boyfriend introduced to Flight of the Conchords, a band of two happy "Kiwis" -- Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie -- who  make deadpan songs with funny themes.  I definitely thought they were funny, but I didn't give them much more thought than that. I became acquainted via mp3s of two songs from their first HBO Special, One Night Stand: "Albi, The Racist Dragon" and "(Think About It) What is Wrong with the World Today?" Albi, The Racist Dragon
(Think About It) What is Wrong with the World Today?
Two Sunday's ago, HBO premiered the band's new, almost autobiographical TV series aptly titled, Flight of the Conchords. I didn't realize the show had begun airing until I (randomly) heard an interview with Jermaine and Bret recorded for NPR's Fresh Air.  HBO did have the first episode up on their website for a while, but not any more.  Pay no mind, of course, as the first episode can be seen on YouTube in 3 parts: One, Two & Three.  And these are some notables from HBO's site ("Inner City Pressure" might be my new favorite): The Robot Song
Inner City Pressure
I'm glad to see these two guys are making a name for themselves.  Clement even has a new movie coming out, Eagle vs. Shark [EaglevsShark.net; fLaSh siTe, but with a killer soundtrack].  It kind of has "Napoleon Dynamite" written all over it, but I'm still very much looking forward to seeing it.  And even McKenzie has had his taste of Hollywood: he played "Elf Escort" in 2003's The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. One more: Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros
