I just found out Live Arts is putting on a production of The Clean House. This is very exciting. I saw Clean House at ACT in Seattle this spring and it's by far the best play I've ever seen -- not that I'm any sort of authority on plays, or have even seen very many, but I was more than once impressed. Every character was genuine and emotional, each adding rich texture to the story; the set was amazingly simple but thoughtful and exacting enough to be incredibly versatile; the play's humor was both belly-jiggling and touching. I suppose I'm not the only one so moved by this play: it was a finalist for the Pulitzer in 2005.
Do yourself a favor and make this a must-see: September 13 - October 13, Live Arts.

I just got a permanent position here in Bloomsburg with the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. Yay! Anyway, we had selected The Clean House as part of our 30th season, but couldn't secure the rights in time. Too bad, too, because the buzz on this show is nothing short of phenomenal. Maybe season 31...
Let me know when you go, I'd like to come along!
