I don't have cable and even if I did, I probably wouldn't seek out Larry King Live. Why not? Mostly because I think his show is tabloid fodder held up by the same suspenders that are somehow supposed to keep the older demographic captivated (apparently CNN thinks so: this episode was peppered with advertisements for Alzheimer's medications, life insurance and this thing) and, more generally, because Larry King is kind of an ass and I don't like being yelled at.
Regardless, stumbling on this episode with Jon Stewart was a nice surprise. While he is hardly ever unfunny, it is nice to hear Mr. Stewart's slightly more serious opinions of things; namely, the writer's strike, New York Times v. John McCain, "media" and the convoluted nature of either side of partisan politics. As interesting, Mr. King was practically silent the whole interview. (Not really sure why, just surprised me.)
